about us

Positive Action in Housing is a Scottish wide minority-ethnic led charity  whose mission is to work with communities and others to enable everyone to have an equal chance to live in good quality, affordable and safe homes, free from discrimination and the fear of racial harassment and violence.

Our main aims are to:

  • Assist minority ethnic and refugee communities to overcome homelessness, racial harassment and poor housing through a casework/advocacy service

  • Enable housing providers to eliminate racial discrimination and promote equal opportunities through the provision of written guidance, training/consultancy and networking.

  • Enable minority ethnic and refugee groups to shape wider housing policy and participate at all levels of policy making.

  • Undertake action research to address the unmet housing needs of these communities.

What we do

  • We provide a casework service for those facing homelessness, racial attacks or poor housing conditions.

  • We help refugees and asylum seekers to overcome their housing difficulties.

  • We organise donations for vulnerable individuals and families.

  • We run a volunteering programme, lead antiracist and better housing campaigns, inform wider policies from users' perspective, provide training and advice on race equality matters to statutory and voluntary organisations, support our members, and publish best practice guidance for minority ethnic and refugee groups, tenants, caseworkers, housing providers and others.
