Why do we need donations?

Every day, Positive Action in Housing deals with clients who have been left destitute (i.e. without a home, money or possessions) by the government. These people are not allowed to be given any kind of public funding (such as Government money, lottery funding etc) so the only way we can help them pay for food and accommodation is by relying on private donations. Payroll Giving

Why not give a regular donation to Positive Action in Housing using Give As You Earn (GAYE)? You decide how much you want to donate, and the donation will be taken straight from your salary each month. The best part is, you won’t have to pay any tax on it. In fact, the extra amount that you would normally pay to the tax office will be given, by them, to the charity on top of the amount you donate. For example, if you donate £3.90, the tax office will add to this and the charity will receive £5.00. If you want to give a regular donation in this way, simply ask your employer if they run a GAYE scheme. If not, you can nominate your employer here. Don’t worry – you can remain anonymous!

Any donations made in this way will be automatically gift-aided so we will receive an extra 25% on top of what you choose to donate, at no extra cost to you.

Gift in Your Will

Leaving a gift to Positive Action in Housing in your will is perhaps the most special way of ensuring that we can continue to support vulnerable people in the future. Your gift needn’t be big, but it will go directly towards our charitable work. Many supporters choose to leave a residue of their estate once they have provided for loved ones.

Ways for organisations to donate

There are a number of ways in which organisations can contribute to our destitution fund.

Do you want to advertise a job vacancy or an event? Why not target over 12,000 socially conscious individuals or organisations in public and voluntary sectors, housing organisations, minority ethnic communities and many more in a single email. Annual Report

Advertise your organisation with a full-colour advert in our Annual Report. The report is sent out to 450 minority ethnic communities, 300 voluntary organisations and over 200 individuals, as well as every Registered Social Landlord and Local Authority in Scotland.

Multifaith Wallplanner

Our wallplanner has a number of advertising spaces available and is sent out to around 5000 individuals and organisations each year.

Scottish Ethnic Minorities Directory

You can promote your organisation, as well as donating to the destitution fund, by placing a full colour advert in this list of minority ethnic organisations, which is produced by Positive Action in Housing each year.
