Positive Action in Housing's housing advice service  provides free, independent, multilingual and culturally sensitive outreach housing information and advice in Glasgow, and elsewhere according to demand, to enable minority ethnic and refugee communities to access safe, affordable housing.

  • Are you a refugee and unaware of the social housing sector in this country?
  • Do you have problems asking for help because English is not your first language?
  • Have you or your family experienced racial harassment?
  • Is you house too small for your needs?
  • Are you having problems with your landlord?
  • Are you living in a council/housing association property, which needs repairs?
  • Are you older and feel you may need sheltered housing?
  • Do you feel isolated and would you prefer to live closer to your own community, shops and places of worship?
  • Do you want to apply for a Housing Association or a Council house but are not sure of how to do it?
  • Do you work for a community organisation or an advice agency but require specialist housing information in order to resolve a clients housing problems?

We particularly aim to assist and support people facing homelessness, racial attacks, bad housing conditions, and people from refugee communities who have received a positive decision and require to leave their NASS accommodation.

It is our policy to treat every client with dignity and respect. Your case details will be kept strictly confidential.

  • Our caseworkers are multilingual.

  • We also have access to freelance interpreter for over 60 languages.

  • We offer office based and locally based outreach surgeries  
  • We accept referrals from organisations anywhere in Scotland.
  • You may contact us yourself or through an organisation. We accept information requests by email.
  • If we cannot assist you, we can refer you onto another organisation that will.
  • We may be able to provide information immediately, which may resolve your particular problem. If your problems are more complex we will ask you to come in and see a housing advisor.
  • If you are unable to come and see us, we may be able to visit you.
  • Once we have all the information we will make an assessment of your housing needs and work with you to decide the best course of action.
  • We will write letters and contact relevant organisations on your behalf. Copies of all correspondence and action taken will be copied to you immediately.
  • All information relating to your case is treated with the strictest confidence and we will not divulge any information to any other party without your written authorisation.
