Destitution Action Pack - http://paih.org/resources/Destitutioncampaignpack2008.pdf

Positive Action in Housing needs to find money to pay for our destitution fund which is currently giving out around £250 per week in hard cash payments to destitute asylum seekers with nowhere to live or money for food.

This is a crisis service for destitute asylum seekers in Scotland as we provide money for food as well as shelter through hostels or willing individuals prepared to give a room for short periods of time. We have had to help pregnant women, young people, old couples from many of the war torn countries in the world.

HOW MUCH CAN YOU GIVE?

It doesn't matter how small the donation, just that we get regular monthly money so we can know we can pay out money to destitute asylum seekers each month and every penny goes direct to destitute asylum seekers in a ring fenced fund.

Just so you know, £5 will provide one days food allowance for a destitute asylum seeker. £15 will pay for one night's hostel accommodation. £25 will provide one week's food and essential travel money for a destitute asylum seeker.

We are also going to let people know how much is been raised at the start of April and hopefully we can increase the fund if we get enough supporters.

Gift in your will

Leaving a gift to Positive Action in Housing in your will is perhaps the most special way of ensuring that we can continue to support vulnerable people in the future. Your gift needn’t be big, but it will go directly towards our charitable work. Many supporters choose to leave a residue of their estate once they have provided for loved ones.

If you would like to leave a gift to Positive Action in Housing in your will, we ask that you contact your solicitor who is best placed to advise you. We do not require any particular wording but you will need to mention our name, address and charity number as follows:

Positive Action in Housing
98 West George Street

Glasgow G2 1PJ

Tel: 0141 353 2220

Finally, we would be grateful if you would inform us of your gift. If you would like to discuss leaving a gift in your will, then please email home@paih.org or call 0141 353 2220.

Finally, thank you for your support

"There are people in our country whose only crime was to flee from persecution and possible death and now find themselves victims of enforced unemployment and homelessness. I would appeal to anyone with the means and the courage to help with either a room in their home or money for Positive Action in Housing's destitution fund. If it were our own family and this were happening to them in a foreign country I'm sure we would hope people would do the same for them."
