Course content:
This course explores the important area of engagement with BME communities. It considers issues of connecting up, consultation and participation with communities in general, and BME groups in particular.
The course will build on work undertaken elsewhere, including that undertaken by Communities Scotland. It includes considering areas as resident involvement, making contact with communities; carrying out meaningful consultation with tangible outputs; working with others in partnership, and looking at how approaches can become part of organisations mainstream work.
The course will use practical examples, and case studies, to draw out general lessons and their applicability to the work of organisations in this area, drawing on good practice examples. Included in the course will be developing tenant/resident involvement and participation strategies, drawing on experience and lessons learnt across Scotland, and how BME groups are part of a proactive and inclusive approach.
