Course Content:

This learning event explores the issue of equality and diversity. It gives an opportunity to understand what is meant by the terms, provides exercises to explore personal feelings and issues, and explores what and how diversity/equality concepts can be developed and progressed practically in organisations.

 

An overview of the legislation and regulatory requirements will be given, as well as an examination on how organisations can develop a strategy and work in this area.

 

By the end of the programme, delegates will be better able to:

• Identify ways in which common prejudices and stereotypes can lead to discrimination and unfair treatment.
• Understand what is meant by the terms ‘equal opportunities’ and ‘diversity’ and the regulatory framework that underpins equality.
• Identify social exclusion, and understand its impact on service delivery.
• Deliver fair and equal outcomes when working with differences through an agreed approach.
• Work within expected behaviours and have a greater awareness of relevant policies and values.
• Mainstream diversity within service delivery.
