Course Content:

As part of new equality legislation involving all areas of equality, carrying out Equality Impact assessments are now mandatory for public sector organisations, or are part of a partnership approach for others.

 

This half day briefing helps to de-mystify such assessments, make them practical, and aims to ensure that they are seen as an integral part of an organisation’s approach to delivery; and to mainstream equality and diversity practice. A key aim is to help participants make the most of equality impact assessments an see them as a practical ways of delivering their diversity/equality approaches in practice.

 

The course includes the provision of background information on equality impact assessments; how and why they are important to organisations; how to carry them out, using a tool- kit and user friendly template. Real case studies are explored and equality impact assessments carried out in practice.
The training is fully participative, and background briefing materials will be available to take away and keep.

• Public bodies/authorities: who now legally have to carry out assessments.
• Housing Associations that work with public authorities, and need to be involved in carry out such assessments.
• Community/Voluntary and other organisations that are funded, or work with public bodies and will need to have a good knowledge/understanding of such assessments.
