PAIH is a minority ethnic-led charity working with Black and Minority Ethnic (BME) communities, Migrants, Refugees and others to provide advice, support and assistance, primarily around housing issues. Our aim is to ensure that everyone is able to live in a safe, affordable housing, free from discrimination, and from the fear of harassment and violence. Apart from advice and support, we also carry out research, undertake campaigns, and provide training briefings.
PAiH has over 10 year’s experience of working in the voluntary and social sectors in Scotland. During this time, we have developed a deep and long-standing relationship with stakeholder organisations within the voluntary, statutory and public sectors. These have been based on mutual respect and trust, and have been developed through referral protocols, collaborative working, advocacy, and through offering service users continuing advice and support.
Our training is centred on our work of ensuring that organisations are aware of the background and relevant issues relating to migrant, refugee and BME communities, also within an equality and diversity context. It is part of our mission to inform and support organisations in their work with these communities.
We have recently decided, following a review of training needs in Scotland, to re-launch our training approach as part of a new initiative. Our aim is to provide a high quality training service, targeted at statutory and public sector bodies within the housing sector and beyond, as well as with community and voluntary organisations.
The emphasis is on providing targeted courses and briefings on areas directly related to the work PAiH and relevant communities, building on our expertise and experience.
Our trainers are highly experienced and knowledgeable in the areas in which they train. Importantly, they are aware of the challenges, background and practicalities of the subject areas where training is delivered.
Our intention is to deliver information in such a way that it has a
resonance with the day to day world and work of participants attending each
course. We aim to ensure that our training courses are participative, though
provoking, practical, stimulating and even fun.
