Racial Harassment - What it is and how to deal with it

Course Outline:

Positive Action in Housing has produced guidelines on tackling racial harassment. To complement this work, this course will help you to identify when racial harassment is occurring and to develop best practice and 'model procedures' that your organisation can adopt. As a participant you will be shown a variety of different interview techniques that will support victims (victim centered) and deal with perpetrators.

This course should be attended by anyone looking to gain a better understanding of how to deal with racial discrimination within your workplace and day-to-day activities. This course is particularly relevant to people working in public and statutory organizations, social work, housing, welfare, education, employment, health, community development or the justice system.

Course Outcomes:

By the end of the day you will:
  • Recognize what racial harassment is and the intention to harm
  • Be better equipped to tackle racial harassment
  • Be more able to respond to victims and take effective action against perpetrators
