Ken Loach’s film The Old Oak to raise funds for Emergency Relief Fund

Tonight Balerno Village Screen will be screening Ken Loach’s last film, made with his long term script writer Paul Laverty, The Old Oak, (Cert 15). The Screening with be attended by Multi BAFTA & Cannes award winner, Paul Laverty and our CEO Robina Qureshi.
Multi BAFTA & Cannes award winner, Paul Laverty will attend to present the film & talk about his views on the film & his life’s work. Our CEO Robina Qureshi will also be attending.
Beruit Restaurant will provide Syrian and Middle Eastern food to try.
All proceeds, less running costs, will be donated to the charity Positive Action in Housing as chosen by Paul. Tickets are £20 each.
The film follows the plight of a family fleeing the Syrian War who arrive in a small town in Tyneside, which struggles due to low employment & poverty.
The film is gritty, raw and relevant to much of the current racism & debate in the UK – watch the trailer here!
