International Migrants Day

19 December 2020

On #InternationalMigrantsDay2020 @PositiveActionH donated a total of £22,500 from its Refugee Crisis Fund to four grassroots organisations in Lesvos, Greece for their determined hard work and humanitarianism. These are Eric and Philippa Kempson’s Hope Project, Team Humanity, Stand By Me Lesvos and Aegean Boat Report . All high impact, people centred projects working to aid refugees in Lesvos. Moria WhiteHelmets – a group of refugees inside the camp – are putting an electricity infrastructure into the new camp at Kara Tepe … #withrefugees #nopasaran

We strongly encourage donors to give to these small, high impact, grassroots groups doing real work. See the links below if you want to support real impact and help for refugees arriving in Greece.

Here’s who to donate to below if you want to see high impact for every pound you give.

(Please do not give to corporate NGOs who appear to run boutique projects in disaster zones. I remember seeing the brand new International Rescue camp at Lesvos in 2015 and hundreds of soaking refugees with their children trudging up the steep hill PAST the International Rescue camp to find shelter. The high impact work of rescuing people from boats, providing essentials like food, clothes and medical support is being done by small volunteer driven groups on the ground).
