Court Rules Family separated on Channel Cannot Reunite in UK

A couple separated from their two young children during a Channel crossing has been denied the right to reunite with them in the UK. The Court of Appeal upheld the Home Office’s position that allowing the parents to enter the UK could incentivise smugglers, ruling that the family must reunite in France.

As we approach the end of the year

As we approach the end of 2024, we want to extend our heartfelt thanks for supporting Positive Action in Housing. Your generosity helps us give a voice to some of the most vulnerable people in our society —those who are forced to rely on charity due to enforced impoverishment, unable to work because of legal restrictions, and experiencing homelessness and destitution as a result. Many of those we support are also vulnerable due to age, illness, discrimination, or the lack of a support system.

Home Office Extends Refugee ‘Move-On’ Period from 28 to 56 Days

The Home Office is to extend the 28-day 'move-on' period given to newly recognised refugees to leave their asylum accommodation, doubling it to 56 days.

From refugee to resilience: Dr Hashem Salim

Hashem, a 30-year-old orthopaedic surgeon from Gaza, addressed our 29th AGM gathering in Glasgow, recounting his extraordinary journey from asylum seeker to NHS doctor. His speech revealed the devastating impact of genocide on his family and the transformative impact of our humanitarian work on his life. His story is a poignant reflection of the horrors right now being faced by countless Palestinians from Gaza and the West Bank.

Positive Action In Housing Partnership with gas distribution network SGN

Marginalised ethnicities are disproportionately vulnerable to fuel poverty, particularly those with migratory backgrounds. Partnering with SGN will support Positive In Action Housing to continue to deliver much needed energy advisory and safeguarding support to Black and Minority Ethnic communities across Glasgow.
