Asylum Backlog Continues Despite Misleading Comments
Attempts from the Home Office to deliver Rishi Sunak’s pledge to clear the asylum backlog of more than 92,000 “legacy” cases – cases lodged before July 2022 – by the end of 2023 has failed. Over 4,500 of these legacy cases remain unresolved.

The damning findings of the report expose entrenched failures in age-assessment processes used by the Home Office, uncovering the high incidence of children wrongly deemed to be adults.

Home Office Weekly Payments to go down while keeping asylum seekers wholly dependent on lucrative asylum contracts
From 8 January 2024, the Home Office will be reducing the weekly payments for individuals seeking asylum who are currently housed in hotels, hostels, or guesthouses, from £9.58 to £8.86 while still making it impossible for refugees to stand on their own two feet.
